Dovel developed the System Wide Information Management (SWIM) environment for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that used Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) to pull that disparate data (such as air route, weather, aircraft itself, etc..) into applications so that it can be viewed holistically for better decision-making. The SWIM program is a massive system requiring all parties to coordinate and stay true to project plans. The Dovel team works in tandem with the FAA program office to ensure all project plans work within the overall program objectives and course corrected as needed. The team also developed the on-ramping process for new services and they continue to oversee the governance policies and documentation.
