Dovel’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee Focuses on Key Objectives

McLean, VA, February 19, 2021 – Dovel Technologies, a trusted partner to federal agencies that blends deep domain expertise and advanced technologies in the health IT, life sciences, public safety, and grants management markets has announced various initiatives led by its Diversity and Inclusion Committee to create a more collaborative and inclusive environment for all employees.

Dovel believes that embracing diversity and inclusion is more than just doing something. It is about becoming something. To that end, the D&I committee developed three key objectives:

  • Expanding diversity in Dovel’s workforce – This initiative focuses on career development for minorities, employee resources and training, and celebrating our diverse culture.
  • Build a culture that embraces diversity – This initiative focuses on diversity and inclusion communications and educational opportunities such as lunch and learns, guest speakers, and resources.
  • Furthering the fight against racism – This initiative focuses on involvement with external organizations, fundraising campaigns, and volunteer opportunities.

In addition to looking at internal business processes to ensure diversity is woven through the Company’s culture, Dovel has established relationships with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and Black Girls CODE (BGC). NSBE is a non-profit organization and one of the largest student-governed organizations based in the U.S. Founded in 1975, NSBE supports and promotes the aspirations of collegiate and pre-collegiate students and technical professionals in engineering and technology. BGC is a non-profit organization dedicated to leveling the playing field for girls of color in STEM. Through an array of tech education-focused programming and initiatives, BGC aims to inspire youth to become innovators in STEM fields, leaders in their communities, and builders of their own futures.

Over the last few months, Dovel donated laptops and hotspots to BGC to support the buildout of their learning library, providing a direct 1-1 impact to girls in need as well as financial support. As an NSBE Affiliate Partner, Dovel sponsors scholarships for college students who are pursuing engineering and applied science degrees. Dovel’s access to the organization’s premier networking and engagement opportunities with scholars, emerging engineers, and professionals will be utilized to bring more diversity into its workforce. The committee also launched an internal Dovel website as a place to share resources and start conversations about race, diversity, and inclusion in our company and in our communities.

Finally, Dovel has partnered with Engage 365, a company that specializes in helping companies expand their knowledge of diversity and inclusion, to support Dovel with educational and training opportunities for all employees. Dovel hosted its first training in early December which focused on how to create a more diverse and equitable culture personally and professionally and the importance of a growth mindset.
