Paul Leslie Becomes Chair of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia

Paul Leslie, Chief Executive Officer of Dovel Technologies, has become chair of the board of directors at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia effective July 1, 2015 at the start of the organization’s fiscal year. In addition, the Community Foundation is welcoming several new board members and thanking three board veterans who have reached the board’s maximum term limits.

Paul Leslie brings outstanding executive leadership experience with an entrepreneurial mindset, successfully building companies for substantial market value and growth. Paul’s extensive business operations insight and technical expertise into the challenges of federal government contracting has created an outstanding track record of aligning company technology offerings and innovations to meet those challenges. He has proven leadership experience and expertise in mergers and acquisitions, business maturity and development, operational excellence, strategic planning, and extensive public sector operations. Leslie has served on the board for six years, serving on the Community Investment Grants Committee and as the vice chair of the Community Foundation’s board of directors for the past two years, and will be replacing K. Lynn Tadlock, Deputy Executive Director of the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, as chair of the board, bringing an end to Tadlock’s chairmanship of two years.

Kevin DeSanto, Co-Founder and Managing Director of KippsDeSanto & Co, is stepping into the role of vice chair of the board of directors. DeSanto has served on the board for five years, serving on the Executive Committee, Grants Committee, and as chair of the Fund and Asset Development Committee.

In addition, the Community Foundation has welcomed five new members to its board of directors in the past year, including:

  • Cindy Andreotti, president and CEO of the Andreotti Group, LLC
  • Adrian Chapman, president and CEO of WGL Holdings, Inc. and Washington Gas
  • Dean Peterson, director with Andersen Tax
  • Ed Silva, co-founder and co-CEO of CENTERPOINT Inc.
  • Julie Simmons, managing director of Human Capital Strategic Consulting

After nine full years on the board of directors, Louis Kiessling, Cathy Lange and Steve Gladis are stepping down due to the board’s term limits. Each of these individuals made a tremendous impact on the growth of the organization. Kiessling oversaw the Community Foundation’s finances, serving on the Audit and Financial committees. Lange chaired the Marketing Committee and was instrumental in helping position the Community Foundation as a thought leader through several data driven research reports. Gladis launched the Future Fund – a giving circle for young professionals – and chaired the 2009 Campaign that raised $2.7 million for community endowments.
